HEALTH CARE SYSTEM INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Information System for Health Centres

SIAP-Win is a windows based product, which makes it natural and easy to use. It is the result of NOVASOFT´s effort to facilitate the complete management of Health Centres.

SIAP-Win has been developed in the Object Oriented 4GL language (Powerbuilder). It respects the normal work methods of the health professionals, imitating the usual forms and documents used, so that it is easy to learn and its daily use is comfortable, easy and quick.

There are different modules in the programme for each working group: (administration, pre-arranged appointments, doctor´s surgeries etc.). All the basic information and processes lead to the personal case history.

It is possible to put limits on the sharing of information of clinical history and keep certain information, private, so that is only accessible to the professional who entered it.

The advantages of the use of SIAP-Win are evident in the short-term:

1. The availability of data collected from patients previous visits, regardless of which department they attended.
2. The reduction in the volume of paper traditionally used to store information and case histories.
3. The best use of the time needed to make appointments and hold surgeries, thanks to the rationalized use of the Center's resources.

PRE-ARRANGED APPOINTMENTS
With this module, one can manage the list of patients that each professionals working in the center, has (Insert, Erase, modifications, reports). The patient asks for an appointment in person or by telephone, and identifies himself with his/her Case History Number, Social Security Number, Health Card or Name. Each patient has an assigned doctor, so he/she only has to indicate the desired date for the appointment and the programme will inform them of the first one available which is acceptable him/her, and then print out a ticket. It is also possible to enter into the list of visits ,the time of appointment the patient would like to have. From this programme, it is possible to start up a new clinical history.

ADMINISTRATION
This is the module which is in charge of the creation of Files and Master Tables:

DOCTOR´S SURGERIES
The doctor will find the list of patients that he/she must attend in a certain surgery, in this module. One by one, the doctor can open their clinical histories as the patients enter the surgery.

The clinical history is presented in the form of a file where one can find the identification data and important information; and a series of sheets presented in the form of buttons that expand their content when the mouse is pressed.

In each sheet, running of the surgery, problems, personal or family background, medication, vaccinations, nursing, medical constants family histories and diet, smoking and alcohol consumption. One stores the relevant information as time passes and it is visible to all the professionals (doctors and nurses) who have the responsibility of making clinical judgments.

This information is not available to the users in the administrative department.

When the clinical record is computerized and centralized, it is available to medical personnel at any time. Thus, it does not need to be physically moved between surgeries when it is needed by different personnel in the center.

The most important sheet of all, is the sheet which follows the register of visits. One adds a note every time the patient comes to the surgery, and all the consultations that he/she has made are stored on one screen. This fulfills the SOVP norms, or the equivalent: Examination, Diagnosis, Reason for Visit, Plan of action.

The diagnosis can be made manually or based in the file of Reasons for Visits (obligatory in the case of illnesses that must be declared ie. AIDS).

The plan of action can also be done manually, or one can fall back on a series of options in the form of buttons that are available on the screen: Prescriptions, Prolonged Treatments, Temporary Sickness, Referrals, Requests for X-Rays, and analytical tests.

All the options, show us the forms required, on the screen, in the same format they are in reality. They are printed out by the printer (including prescriptions), which makes it easy for the doctor to adapt to this new working environment. The prescription option is also assisted by a handbook with the prices of medication.

ADMINISTRATIVE WORK OF DOCTOR
This program's objective is to automatically produce prescriptions for patients who are prescribed medication for prolonged periods.
