Information System for Pathology Departments |
PAT-Win has been developed in the Object Oriented 4GL language (PowerBuilder) which respects the work of the professionals, imitating the usual forms and documents used, so that it is easy to learn and its daily use is comfortable, quick and easy.
REGISTER OF THE ARRIVAL OF SAMPLES
This is a general
access module, where the arrival of samples at the department can be registered,
whether they be biopsies, smear tests or autopsies.
Register: This allows one to consult and print out the arrival of samples at the department, by type of study and date, in the register.
Management of Archives: This allows us to register the reports made before the introduction of the computer system.
Printing of Reports: This allows us to print reports following different selection criteria, like: date, type of study etc.
Confirmation and Conclusion of Reports: This module has restricted access, and can only be entered by the pathologist responsible for that particular study. It permits its confirmation and conclusion.
The Re-opening of Reports: This allows us to re-open closed studies.
THE MANAGEMENT OF STUDIES
Gross study: This module allows us to make a macroscopic description, the register of complimentary data (the pathologist responsible for the study, photography, type of introduction, etc.), definition of blocks, slides and techniques that will be used in the study. One can also enter functions like: booklet of photographs, the printing of laboratory tickets and sheets.
Reports on patients undergoing surgery: This is for the reports which are registered as mentioned above. Here we can fill in the data (date, time of study, pathologist responsible, macroscopic description and diagnosis during the operation) and print out a report. It also has the option to finish the report when the final diagnosis has been made.
Laboratory: This is for the management of requested techniques, which controls the date and time of entry and exit to the different laboratories of the department.
Microscopy: Basically, this module allows us to consult data related to the study (macroscopic description, past studies, use of dyes and techniques applied, etc.). A text editor is also available to fill in the microscopic description, where a standardized text can be incorporated.
Final Report: The final report of the study (previously formed in "Maintenance"), can be entered via the button marked "Report". The report is made up of different sections (the patient's demographic data, clinical data, macroscopic description, final diagnosis, etc.) or statistical texts which also make up the report. We can add complimentary data such as the pathologist responsible; another pathologist responsible, or a resident doctor; cases of interest; photography; number of photos; date of microscopy; tumor registry etc. Then the final diagnosis (free text) and the codification SNOMED can be registered.
Special Reports: This section allows us to register reports for special studies requested.
STANDARDIZATION AND MAINTENANCE
This gives access to
every master table or option in the configuration of the application. The Text
Editor forms an integral part of the application. We can access the editor in
two ways: through the configuration mode (master reports) or through the edition
mode (reports of studies). A document is divided into a beginning, main volume
of document and ending, which allows us to form and change the aspect of the
report. Thus we can stick on variables and images (BMP).
REPORTS AND STATISTICS
This module allows the
immediate use of data. Different selection criteria to ease the study of results
(date, type of sample) is available in each of the options or reports.
