OBJECTIVE: There are different techniques for the treatment of the residual short columella in patient with uni or bilateral cleft lip. We present the association of labial rotation flap with a free grooved costal graft like treatment, in one phase, for the defect of short columella.
MATERIAL AND METHOD: We show two cases of bilateral cleft lip treatment with by this surgical technique.
RESULTS: An excellent nasal projection is obtained with a good symmetry of the nostril floor and a satisfactory final aesthetic result.
DISCUSSION: The syndrome of short nose supposes a surgical challenge inside the sequels of the cleft lip. Most of the used techniques imply wide boardings to the nasal pyramid without paying completely the asymmetry of the nostril floor and the aesthetic problem,.
CONCLUSION: This technique obtains a length of the columellas and a nasolabial angle compatible with the normality together with an appropriate symmetry of the nostril floor, that is not obtained with the normal procedures.
